Girl's Soccer

The Albemarle girls soccer team captured their first ever district title since joining the Commonwealth District over ten years ago with a 1-0 win over Stafford Tuesday night. Abby Davison knocked in a bouncing ball in front of the goal after an Abby Davison corner kick with 8.8 seconds remaining in the game. The defensive line of Katharine Waldron, Anne Brady, Abby Davison, Joy Piirto, and Lauren Truwit was solid yet again in front of keeper Betsy Haugh (four saves). In addition to winning the regular season title, the Patriots also earned a birth in the Regional tournament. The girls (13-0-1, 11-0-1 CD) travel to Colonial Forge on Friday and Riverbend next Tuesday before returning home to host the first round of the District tournament.
