After a week of spring break, it was evident that Albemarle girls tennis team was perhaps mentally still thinking about relaxing on the beach and the Wildcats of Mountain View were determined to take advantage in a showdown of the two unbeatens in the Commonwealth district. The Patriots looked a step slow and showed some rust appearing to lack intensity taking the court in singles. Mountain View countered the quick start provided by Albemarle's Megan Napolitano, Alison Henry and Maddi McCullough, tying up the singles matches 3-3 by winning at #2, #4 and #6 seeds. The Lady Pats held a rare team huddle after singles as Mountain View had gotten their attention. Albemarle what was lacking in singles and with their re-focused attitude, it was clear that they were ready to take control in doubles. In the end, they claimed the three matches to win 6-3. "It is good to be tested. We've come to expect a certain level of excellence from ourselves out there and in some of these matches that has been tough to find. But good teams find ways to win, bad teams find ways to lose...we've got them again on Thursday...we'll see if we are ready" sophomore Callie Murray said of the outcome. Albemarle improves to 6-1 on the season and hosts North Stafford tomorrow at 5:00 (this has been rescheduled)
