The Albemarle girls soccer team defeated Colonial Forge for the first time ever in Commonwealth District play Wednesday night by a score of 2-0. Lizzy Marks found Lauren Truwit on a cross just after the ten-minute mark to give the Patriots the lead, as Truwit was able to knock the shot past Forge's keeper. Minutes before the half, Ali Starr netted a second goal for the Patriots off of a Maggie Tubridy assist. Colonial Forge came out firing in the second half, but strong defensive play and clutch goalkeeping by Betsy Haugh (10 saves) kept the Eagles off the board, earning the Patriots the win. The girls, now 4-0-0 in the District (6-0 overall) face another tough challenge Friday night when Riverbend comes to town.
