Boys Swimming

The AHS boys continued their undefeated season at the Commonwealth Districts on Friday. In order to qualify for regionals, and score points for the team, a swimmer must place at least eighth. The boys qualified all three of their relays; 200 medley, 200 free and 400 free for regionals, placing 3rd, 2nd and 2nd respectively. Chase Robbins and Jacob Lescault, placed top 8 at 2nd and 8th. Chase had a great race, but was barely out-touched. Fighting to push into the lead, three boys, Tim Webb (2nd), Andrew Williamson (6th) and Sean Telford (7th), placed top eight scoring 12 points for the team in the 200 individual medley. Matt Lockman took the first win for the Patriots in the 50 free, lowering his already state qualifying time. Stephen Topping and Michael Bernardino placed 4th and 8th in the 100 butterfly, Bernardino improving his time by half a second. Matt Lockman won the Patriots second event in the 100 freestyle, again lowering his state qualifying time. Robert Robison also placed eighth in the event. Chase Robbins once again had an unexpected race, when an outside lane swimmer just out-touched Robins in the 500 freestyle. Lescault also had a great race placing fourth. Stephen Topping and Sean Telford placed 4th and 6th in the 100 backstroke, Telford swimming a life time best. The final individual event, the 100 breastroke, proved the most critical for the boys. Tim Webb, Robert Robison, Andrew Williamson, and Collin Hensien, placed 1st, 3rd 5th and 6th, scoring 22 points, and securing their district title for the 6th straight year.
Overall, 10 boys qualified for Regionals, which are this Friday the 11th at 2 pm.
