Girls soccer defeated Western Albemarle Tuesday night, shutting out the Warriors 2-0. Lauren Brady scored the opening goal mid-way through the first half, and Ali Starr and Lizzy Marks combined to put in a Joy Piirto free kick deflected by Western's keeper in the second half. Goalkeeper Betsy Haugh had a shut out for the Patriots, and Abby Mathes had a phenomenal game, challenging hard for every ball in the midfield. The girls travel to Monticello on Thursday before moving into Commonwealth District play the following Friday (the 25th) against Brooke Point.
